Please help us spread the word about a fundraising campaign to support an important short film featuring a subject that gets sparse media attention.
New York City-based film writer/director Emilie McDonald’s latest short film CROSSING THE RIVER is inspired by the true story of a young bi-racial girl who is traumatized when her family is targeted by a cross burning. This extreme act of hatred is carried out by two white boys who come under the influence of a racist man. The film deftly explores the points of view of the youths, uncovering how racism and bigotry take a psychological toll on both victim and perpetrator.
We are in the pre-production phase of this important project and have two weeks left to raise the funds needed to shoot, edit and distribute the film. To learn more about the project and to donate, please visit: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/emiliemcdonald/crossing-the-river
We have partnered with the advocacy organization Western North Carolina Citizens for an End to Institutional Bigotry (WNCCEIB) to raise awareness of this important issue. Our partnership will include promoting the organization’s work and mission and raising funds for WNCCEIB in conjunction with CROSSING THE RIVER film screenings.
